"The Divine Appointment proves Jerome Teel to be a master craftsman of Christian fiction. He creates a complex web of relationships among a conservative, Christian president; a Supreme Court nominee; the president’s senate majority opposition; a murdered attorney and murder suspects to give us an exciting read, a story bursting with intrigue, passion and politics."

Last year, Jerome Teel exploded onto the political thriller scene with the release of his debut novel, The Election.  Full-time attorney/author Teel is out to prove he's not just a one hit wonder.  His second novel, The Divine Appointment, is a powerful, fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat suspense novel that makes plenty of promises, and delivers.

As if pulled from recent headlines during the Bush administration, a Supreme Court Justice dies, and the president of the United States of America now has the chance to fill that opening with a specific type of judge.  This new appointment would cause the scales to tip in favor of Republican conservatives.  Pro-choice groups fear that the wrong appointed candidate would lead to the tampering and possible overturning of the infamous Roe v. Wade abortion case that, for decades, has made abortions legal in this country.  The radical liberals will stop at nothing to keep the president's nominee from getting appointed.

Simultaneous to the chaos that is taking place in Washington, a young, pregnant woman has been murdered.  As a favor to a client, attorney Eli Faulkner agrees to represent the arrogant (married) doctor accused of the murder.  All the while, a down-on-his-luck reporter, excuse me, investigative reporter, receives an anonymous tip on the murder case.   The tip leads him down a wild investigative path that has him poking dangerous holes into political plans that might not only land him a Pulitzer for investigative journalism, but at the same time, might cost him his life.

Teel composes tight chapters full of intrigue, suspense and wonderful characters.  The dialogue is crisp, the scenes are fast-paced, and the tension is constant.  There was a time when David Baldacci ruled the political thriller arena.  I think a new king is town, and his name is Jerome Teel.  This is definitely an author to keep your eye on!
